This morning we defined "social" and "environmental" activism. Students gave lots of examples of the latter, being putting a bridge over Utah Lake, owls and forestry, etc.
We watched a student made movie, rich in primary sources, about Rachel Carson and took notes of important facets of the impact of her book, Silent Spring.
For homework, students were divided into one of four groups to research for tomorrow's class. Please find, watch, and listen to youtube videos and find a couple of newspaper articles or other primary sources about your disaster. Students should bring in a prop or two that might help them create a skit to present to the class. Skits will be formulated tomorrow.
The groups were:
1.Love Canal
2. 3 Mile Island
3 Chernobyl
4. Valdez/Exxon oil spill
Miss Skinner will be teaching tomorrow.
